My fellow readers, “And this
is the only immortality you and I may share, my Lolita.” those were H.H last
words. Everyone has spoken their final words and now, it's my turn to do it. I
loved it, every piece of it. I loved it very much. The book has taken an
amazing twist and so did the blog. Remember how we started talking about
Lolita? Here I am now and there's no one else I would rather speak about other
than Humbert Humbert. A twist indeed, right? If you wanna read the book stop
right now and close this blog, this might be an extreme spoiler. If you’re
still reading means you know it too. All this time I thought Humbert was stupid
and silly for loving Lolita, but he knew everything. He was aware that Lolita
was just a nymphet, one he’ll never forget, but just a nymphet. I love how
right at the end he starts telling Lolita to be loyal, to be happy and to live
the life she deserves. He just wants her happiness and that my fellow readers,
it’s real love for me. He would rather go to jail and be on his own for her
happiness, for her own farytale ending. Well, it’s not a complete fairytale
ending for Lolita, but she’s happy and that’s more than enough for Humbert. My
recommendation for every reader is DON’T WATCH THE MOVIE FIRST! That was my big
mistake, a huge mistake. The book became boring and long at some point just
because I knew how it would all end. But the last part, the last page… Right
when he says his final words to Lolita, it killed me. He loved her, no matter
what. He loved her as a father, he loved her as a lover, he just loved her.
Just like he said right from the start “light of my life, fire of my loins”.
Quilty will never forget her. Humbert will never forget her. Dick will never
forget her. Vladimir will never forget her. But most importantly, I will never
forget you Lo. Lee. Ta.
